DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Dubuque Fighting Saints ended 2014 on a high note, and hope to carry that momentum into the new year.

They went to Bloomington for a special New Years Eve game, and came out with a 4-3 shootout victory.  It's their first shootout victory of 2014, breaking a streak of five shootout losses.

Dylan Gambrell continued a hot streak of his own, scoring twice in the game, including the first goal which came just 16 seconds into the game.

Brett Boeing added his team-leading 13th goal.

After a scoreless overtime, Gambrell, Boeing and Shane Kavanagh hit the back of the net in the shootout, and goaltender Jacob Nehama turned away a Bloomington shot to give the Saints the win.

The Saints are now 3-0-0 on the season against Bloomington, and will play them once more in February.

With the win, the Saints improve to 17-7-2, and with 36 points, sit in third place in the USHL Eastern Conference.
