Study: Drunk birds slur their songs

Posted: Updated:

A new study suggests that birds act much like people when they've ingested alcohol; researchers with Oregon Health and Science University gave Zebra Finches juice spiked with booze and found that when birds got drunk, their songs started to slur.

They determined the bird's slurs are similar to how people start to slur their words when intoxicated.

Birds have been known to eat fermented berries, which can give them an intoxicated effect.

Researchers hope that in studying birds, they can learn more about alcohol's impact on humans.
