DUBUQUE (AP) - Authorities say they followed a trail of blood to arrest a Dubuque man accused of drunken driving and hitting a utility pole.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says 24-year-old Logan J. Siegert faces charges of operating while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with official acts. Court records do not list an attorney.

Authorities say Siegert was driving around 4 a.m. on Dec. 20 when he drove off the road and struck a utility pole. Siegert is accused of fleeing the scene.

Deputies followed a trail of blood to an address where Siegert was found inside injured and intoxicated, the Telegraph Herald reported.

Authorities say a preliminary blood test shows Siegert's blood alcohol concentration was above the legal limit to drive.
