CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Eight nonprofit organizations are receiving community grants from the Alliant Energy Foundation totaling $26,000.

The grants are part of the Foundation's third and final 2014 giving cycle bringing the year-to-date given in the region to $103,853.

"We support the communities that Alliant Energy is proud to serve, sad Julie Bauer, executive director of the Alliant Energy Foundation.

Organizations receiving grants include the American Red Cross, the African American Heritage Foundation, St. Luke's Health Care Foundation, and Mount Mercy University.

Additional nonprofits receiving grants are Eastern Iowa Arts Academy, Catherine McAuley Center, LBA Foundation, and HD Youth Center.

"These nonprofit organizations help make life better, and we hope these grants will have a direct impact on the communities and the people the programs touch," said Bauer.
