Sheriff: Washburn gas station robbery deemed 'unique case'

Posted: Updated:

The Black Hawk County Sheriff says a Washburn Pronto Store BP Gas Station clerk reported a robbery at 10:55 p.m. on Dec. 28.

The victim reported a man came into the store and demanded money and cigarettes.

The sheriff's office says an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes was stolen by the suspect, who then left the area.

According to the sheriff's office, the suspect was described as a black male, 6 feet tall with a medium build. He had face coverings.

The sheriff says no weapons were involved in the robbery.

The gas station robbery is apparently a "unique case," according to the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Tony Thompson says it is different from other robbery cases the department has dealt with, but did not elaborate.

He also said they are not releasing further information at this time.
