CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - A Benton County sex offender is headed to federal prison for five years after failing to register.

The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 48-years-old David Kimble of Norway pleaded guilty on September 25 to one count of failing to register as a sex offender.  Officials say he admitted to moving from North Carolina to Iowa and did not register as a sex offender in Iowa.  He was required to register after being convicted of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse in Linn County in 2004.

Kimble was sentenced to five years in prison and five years of supervised release.
