UPDATE: Manhunt is over- man is arrested near Traer

The man has been captured and arrested near Traer on suspicion of drunk driving. His identity is unknown at this time but officers say he appears to be in his 20s.

According to authorities, he crashed his vehicle around 8 this morning, and ran into the woods. He has a cut on his head, but will be okay. Officers searched that area for more than 3 hours.  He was arrested around 12:30 near Traer.

The Iowa State Patrol is looking for a man who ran from the scene of a crash near Traer on Christmas morning.

Authorities say they don't know who the man is, but they're concerned he was seriously hurt when his vehicle rolled over along Highway 63. They say the man was bleeding when someone spotted him running away. They're focusing their search west of Traer along 180th Street. The State Patrol says there's nothing to indicate the public is in danger.

A State Patrol plane is being used in the search. Authorities say the plane happened to be in the air already, having finished a trip transporting organs, when the pilot heard about the search. The pilot then volunteered to help.


 The Iowa State Patrol says it has a plane in the air looking for a person after a car crashed off Highway 63 near Traer.

Authorities would not say why the search was launched. The Tama County Sheriff's Office also said it could not release many details, but says the car crashed around 8 a.m. Christmas morning. The sheriff's office told KWWL no roads are blocked off.
