WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The man accused of ramming a Waterloo police squad car also allegedly told an officer he had a gun and would kill him.

Kelvin Plain, Jr., 25, has been charged with assault on a peace officer with intent to injure, assault on a peace officer using a dangerous weapon and criminal mischief.  Police were called to a home at 4045 Niles Street on December 16th.  Plain was accused of making threats and when police showed up, the officer told him to leave.

That officer also says Plain started to yell at him, saying he had a gun and would kill him.  Police say Plain did leave, but then returned and rammed his SUV into a squad car, which then hit another police vehicle.  Sgt. Brooke Carter and Officer Randy Hammitt were both injured.  Hammitt suffered a broken nose.
