WATERLOO (KWWL) -  With Cuban relations changing, many people are wondering when they may be able to purchase Cuban cigars.

The answer is 'not yet,' but one local cigar retailer is excited for the possibility.  John Eveland of National Cigar says it could take up to a year.

He says the trade embargo has to be lifted, and cigar producers would need more time to meet demands.

If lifted, this wouldn't be the first time Eveland sold Cubans. "These cigars were in the country prior to the embargo, so they were legal. A gentleman in New Jersey had 2.5 million pounds of them, and he sold those to 70 retailers throughout the country and I happened to be one of the fortunate ones."

Eveland says he would love to be able to sell Cubans. He believes lifting the embargo would create a huge boom in the industry.
