Davis County man gets 1 year in jail after hoarding animals

DAVIS COUNTY (AP) -

A Davis County man has been sentenced to a year in jail in connection with an animal hoarding case in which hundreds of animals were found at his property, both living and dead.

Prosecutors recommended the one-year sentence under a plea deal with Roger Blew.

The Ottumwa Courier reports a judge approved on Friday the agreement, which bars Blew from ever possessing animals.

Blew was charged in February with numerous counts of animal neglect after authorities discovered more than 300 animals in his Drakesville home. Another 60 carcasses were found on his property.
