Rain, snow mixture causes shopping frustration

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -  Its all hustle and bustle the last weekend before Christmas.

Bell ringers, last minute shoppers, and those tagging along all combined make one big mess in parking lots around the Cedar Valley.

"I'm extremely annoyed," says Joy Colbert. "But I'm trying to keep the holiday spirit alive."

This weather? She's not a fan.

"I'm not one that likes to drive in this kind of weather, because my husband hit a patch of black ice a few years ago and had a bad accident."

Trent Schnedler owns a towing company.

He says his company has been busy.

"Ah man, we've been busy since last night, and there was quite a few wrecks this morning."

Go slow, he says. He takes his own advice, because he doesn't want to have to use his own services.

Ethan Seidenkranz was also out shopping.

He too, wants fellow drivers to slow down, and not just their vehicles

"Feels like people can be a little less intense. Its like, I know you're busy, I'm busy too, but we all need to chill out a little bit."

The Iowa Department of Transportation says to drive slow, and to leave enough space between cars to avoid nasty accidents.
