CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Police say they've arrested a suspect in the robbery of a Cedar Rapids bank and they say the public played a big role.

Tony Alan Spies, 44, of Cedar Rapids was arrested Thursday night and charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree theft in connection with the robbery at U.S. Bank at 129 16th Avenue SW, according to the Cedar Rapids Police Department.

The bank was robbed at 4:14 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18. No one was hurt.

Spies was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at an apartment on Bowling Street SW in Cedar Rapids.

Police say the investigation relied heavily on the public's assistance in providing officers and investigators with good witness information.
