DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

A pair of Six-banded Armadillos at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque has given birth to twins.

The adult armadillos Dilla and Marty, gave birth to a male and female on November 17th.
At five weeks old, the babies have already grown to nearly five times their original size at birth.

The armadillos are not on display and are only used for educational programming.  Once they are old enough, the animals will be transferred to another facility that's accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
