Sex offender escapes authorities' custody during traffic stop

BURLINGTON (KWWL) - According to the Iowa Department of Corrections, a male sex offender escaped from a residential work facility Saturday.

During a private transport from the Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility to the Burlington Work Release Facility, Shane Jeremy Lieb, 40, fled from the transport vehicle during a traffic stop in Burlington.

Lieb is to begin a Lifetime Sex Offender Special Sentence, and has been placed on escape status.

He is described as a six-feet-tall white male, 226 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes and a tattoo on his upper right arm.

Information regarding Lieb's whereabouts should be reported to the Burlington Police Department or Des Moines County Sheriff's Office.
