Two injured in Dubuque County accidents: icy roads blamed

Unexpected icy roads are being blamed for accidents in Dubuque County that injured two people.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to eight accidents in a three hour span this morning. Two resulted in people going to the hospital.

Deputies say 18-year-old Devon Frank from St. Olaf was headed north on Highway 52 near Midway Road at around 5:06 a.m. when he lost control on the icy road. They say Frank's car spun sideways and was struck by a southbound car. Frank was taken to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque. His condition is unknown.

At 6:39 a.m. deputies were called to Highway 61 near Skyline Road for a crash. they say 33-year-old Charles Grau of Dubuque was headed south on Highway 61 when he lost control on the icy road. His vehicle went into the ditch and rolled. Grau was taken to Finley Hospital in Dubuque. His condition is unknown.
