CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

With the holidays upon us, kids will inevitably be getting gifts of technology that will give them access to the internet. With that, comes the parents worry about online safety.

To address the concerns parents have, the Cedar Rapids Police Department is partnering with Kirkwood Community College, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Wireless to host a class for parents called, "Kid Safety in a Technological World".

In the class, you will learn how to make mobile devices safe for family use, methods of providing security with social media tools, how to recognize and combat some of the dangers of the internet and what the most popular applications children are using.

The program is free and will be held Thursday, December 18 at Kirkwood Community College, Linn Hall, Room 1176 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

To register, call the Cedar Rapids Police Department at (319) 286-5439.
