Iowa State Cyclones head coach Fred Hoiberg says Bryce Dejean-Jones will serve a one-game suspension after his arrest, and that suspension will be for Friday night's game against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City.

Hoiberg met with members of the media shortly before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, and briefly answered questions about the Cyclone guard's arrest.

"We feel that the best move at this time for Bryce, for our team, is to suspend him for tomorrow night's game. It's not a code of conduct issue with Iowa State University, it's a decision I've come to based on conversations I've had."

Hoiberg also said, "After the information I gathered, it was the right thing to do."

Players also talked about the arrest.

"It's tough, it's tough for the team. But you know we all got in, we spoke about things. You know, Bryce was one of the first to motivate us, to see what we're gonna do," said guard Naz Long. "You know, it's Iowa. You gotta be motivated for one of the best college rivalries in basketball, so we're ready. We're ready to go."

A serious misdemeanor charge against ISU standout Bryce Dejean-Jones has been dropped.

A document filed in Story County this morning reads:

"On the 11th day of December, 2014, the defendant appeared for initial appearance on a complaint charging gathering where marijuana is used. Based on the information contained in the complaint and affidavit, the Court does not find probable cause exists to believe the defendant committed this offense.

IT IS THEREFORE THE ORDER OF THIS COURT that the charge is dismissed, and the defendant is discharged pursuant to Iowa Rule of Criminal Procedure 2.2(1)."

The Story County Clerk of Court says the two remaining charges are still pending.

It's not clear how the arrest will impact Dejean-Jones' status for the game against the Hawkeyes Friday night.  Coach Fred Hoiberg is expected to speak with media at 4:00 p.m.

Iowa State guard Bryce Dejean-Jones is in jail after apparently hosting a party this week. The Story County Jail website shows the basketball player on its jail roster, charged with "hosting a drug house marijuana," nuisance party regulations and a noise violation.

Ames police spokesman Geoff Huff says Dejean-Jones was arrested around 3 a.m.   He remains at the Story County Jail on Thursday morning on $1,600 bond.

Huff says the marijuana charge is roughly the equivalent of a drunken-driving charge and that a fine and probation is more likely than jail time.

Dejean-Jones is a senior transfer from Los Angeles, and also played basketball at UNLV and USC.

He led the Cyclones in scoring at the team's most recent game against Kansas City with 22 points, and also averages 17.1 points per game.

The arrest comes a day before the Cyclones and Iowa Hawkeyes square off at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City Friday night.
