On Wednesday, Dec. 10, two cars collided shortly after 6:00 PM and sent two people to the hospital.

Black Hawk County Sheriff's deputies and Dunkerton Fire and Ambulance personnel were dispatched to E Airline Highway, east of N Raymond Road to the scene of the collision.

An investigation at the site indicated that a four-door Lexus driven by Robert Jefferson, (86) of Dunkerton, was driving westbound on E Airline Road.

Approximately one quarter mile east of the intersection with N Raymond Road, Mr. Jefferson's vehicle was struck head-on by a four-door Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Evan Wheeler, (19).

Mr. Jefferson and his passenger/wife, Barbara Jefferson (84), were both transported to Allen Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mr. Wheeler refused treatment at the scene.

Evidence showed Mr. Wheeler's vehicle was in the eastbound lane at the time of the crash and was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
