CORALVILLE (KWWL) -

When KWWL first arrived on the scene at the Suburban Extended Stay in Coralville Tuesday night, police told us that two bodies were found in a hotel room.

Police Chief Barry Bedford said then that he didn't believe the public was in danger.

We now know that's because police have an idea of what happened and think they know who the people are.

Bedford claims there were no "obvious" signs of foul play, but the circumstances did raise some questions.

He believes the autopsy will confirm many speculations -- including the cause of death, the names of the two people, and how long they'd been in the room before a hotel employee found them.

The hotel is still open, even though police officers have been on the scene for hours.

Officers will stay at the hotel until the autopsies are complete, in case they get any new leads.

One guest told KWWL  that he's been staying at the hotel for about three months. He called the situation "sad," but it won't be sending him to another hotel.

Bedford has the names of the people who had been staying in the room -- and says they were long-term guests. He would not say whether he thought those people were the ones found dead.
