UPDATE: Police still at Coralville hotel Wednesday morning

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE:  The hotel in Coralville, where two bodies were found Tuesday night, is open Wednesday morning as police block off part of the building to investigate.

That part of the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel is being treated as a crime scene, but that doesn't necessarily mean a crime was committed.

Police are still at the scene, but there's no word yet on whether they've been able to identify the bodies or determine what happened.

Coralville police confirm they're conducting a death investigation after two bodies were found at a hotel.

It's happening right now at the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel. Police were called to the hotel just after 6:30 p.m., when an employee discovered the bodies of two people in one of the rooms. Their identities have not been confirmed.

Investigators will not confirm if it is a homicide at this point. The Division of Criminal Investigation is involved.

Authorities anticipate that autopsies will be conducted.

"We do not believe that members of the community are in any dangers as a result of this incident," said Coralville Police Chief Barry Bedford.
