CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The United Way of East Central Iowa is looking for volunteers for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

Right now, the organization needs about 40 volunteers.

The program helps make sure that people who need help doing their taxes, and can't afford to pay for that help, still get the assistance they need. The volunteers also help make sure people get  all the tax deductions they qualify for.

Volunteer  tax preparers work 4-6 hours per week during tax season. They can go to training sessions to gain certification.

The United Way also needs volunteer site coordinators and greeters.

For more information, contact Dave Loy at dave.loy@uweci.org or 319-398-5372 x 825.
