BUTLER COUNTY (KWWL) - A Butler County home is a total loss after a fire Sunday night.

It happened about four miles north of New Hartford along 290th Street.

The family who lives at the home was away at the time of the fire and their three dogs died in the blaze.

According to the Butler County Emergency Manager, officials don't know what caused the fire. It rekindled twice Monday morning.

The State Fire Marshall's Office has been called to investigate.

A family friend has set up a benefit account at Peoples Savings Bank in Dike under "Modlin Family Fire Benefit Account."
