CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Mercy Medical Center wants not-for-profit groups to have access to  lifesaving equipment. Mercy is donating Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to several groups.

AEDs check heart rhythm and treat Sudden Cardiac Arrest by sending electric shocks to the heart.

Mercy is donating devices to Marion High School, Jefferson High School, Metro High School, and The Salvation Army in December.

Earlier this year Mercy donated devices to the Cedar Rapids Public Library and Taylor Elementary School.

Mercy partners with ThinkSafe on this project. Mercy donates the supplies while ThinkSafe provides follow-up maintenance and education.
