GUTTENBERG (KWWL) -

You've seen the movie, now you can see it again a little differently.

Two friends who met in college have re-created the 1990 Christmas movie "Home Alone", and play nearly every character themselves.

Kari Houghtaling, 25, and Liz Smith, 26, filmed in Guttenberg in early 2014, and have spent the rest of the year editing the footage.

Several businesses allowed the pair to film, and even the Guttenberg Police Department helped out by providing a squad car with flashing lights.

But instead of "Home Alone," this version is called "Abode Solo." According to a project website, the movie started as a ten-minute spoof film but then grew into 50 page script.

Houghtaling and Smith will premiere their film on Friday, December 19 in the Rathskeller, a former German-themed restaurant, in the basement of the historically preserved Albertus Building.  If you can't make it, the film will also be posted on YouTube.

You can watch a pretty entertaining trailer for the project at www.abodesolo.com.

An earlier version of this story stated both girls are from Guttenberg.  The two actually met at Luther College in Decorah, and Liz Smith is the only one to call Guttenberg her hometown.
