Iowa woman sentenced to 90 months for Meth

DAVENPORT (KWWL) - On Friday, Dec. 5, Nasra Lorette Fernandez Kury, age 26, was sentenced by Judge John A. Jarvey to 90 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute at least 500 grams of methamphetamine.

Kury sold 500 grams of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine and 50 grams of actual methamphetamine.

The defendant was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release following the period of imprisonment, and to pay $100 towards the Crime Victims Fund.

From May 21 until Sept. 10, 2013, Fernandez conspired with others to distribute ice methamphetamine in the Iowa City and Muscatine areas.

Fernandez or her co-defendant, Luis Chavez Preciado, age 28, sold methamphetamine directly to an undercover law enforcement office on seven occasions.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers conducted a search of Fernandez' Iowa City residence and seized 1,099 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, a shotgun, ammunition, and other items.

Kury's partner Preciado was previously sentenced in July by Judge Jarvey to 151 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute at least 500 grams of methamphetamine.

Chavez was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release following the period of imprisonment, and to pay $100 towards the Crime Victims Fund.
