UPDATE: No injuries in Iowa City armed robbery

UPDATE, 11:07 p.m. -- Iowa City police say no one has been injured in an armed robbery near the University of Iowa.


Currently, no suspects are in custody. Police are searching for three men wearing hoodies. Two were seen carrying guns, according to authorities. They're suspected of committing the armed robbery at the corner of Gilbert St. and Fairchild St. They were last seen heading north from the neighborhood.


Students and faculty at the University are advised to be careful while out and about this evening.


University of Iowa Police tweeted that the Nite Ride service, which offers safe rides home, would begin earlier tonight as a result of the reported crime.

ORIGINAL STORY: University of Iowa officials report an armed robbery at the corner of Gilbert St. and Fairchild St.

Authorities say three male suspects wearing hoodies ran from the scene. Two were reportedly seen carrying guns.

They were last spotted heading North.

University officials issued a Hawk Alert at 8:37 p.m. As of 9:30, witnesses on the scene wrote on Twitter that they still heard sirens, and saw officers in the area.

"Public Safety and university leadership are assessing the situation and will post further information on this site as it becomes available," University officials wrote.
