EVANSDALE (KWWL) -

Two years after their small bodies were found in the woods, people in Evansdale say they will not give up. Ten-year-old Lyric Cook and eight-year-old Elizabeth Collins were riding their bikes near Meyers Lake in Evansdale, July 13, 2012 when they were abducted.

Roughly five months later hunters found their bodies in this wooded area at Seven Bridges Park in Bremer County. Friday we mark two years since that discovery, but no arrests have been made.

"Oh they are still talked about and they're remembered on a daily basis," said Sarah Staebell.

Throughout the town of Evansdale people have made sure Lyric and Elizabeth haven't been forgotten.

At Cobblestone Creek, people can still purchase engraved bricks to be laid at Angels Park. That park is currently located at Meyers Lake, the last place the girls were seen riding their bikes.

The goal of the park was to help the community really heal.

"A place to enjoy and not be a sorrowful place and remember that not necessary the girls were taken from there but to build something to remember everyone," said Staebell.

Joe Fager, associate pastor at Countryside Vineyard Church in Evansdale says they've had a few signs up with the girls' picture and the tip line on it at his church since the girls went missing.

He says it will continue to stay up until the killer is found, but along with the sign his church continues to pray.

"The situation to be resolved. To bring peace to the families, the family members that are involved, even the community itself is still wondering is this guy still out there," said Fager.

An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the abduction happened June 13, 2012.
