Twitter is unveiling tools that give users the ability to flag, block and report messages that could be considered offensive.

The social media website is making the changes after several reports of threats and abuse on the site.

One such high profile cases is that of comedian Robin William's daughter, who left the site after her father's death because of threatening messages.

Users now have the opportunity to report online harassment in fewer steps. They can also more easily flag abuse, even if they aren't directly involved.

Finally, Twitter is letting users block specific followers from viewing their profiles.

The website also has a "blocked accounts" page in its settings, which gives users the opportunity to review the accounts that they've blocked.
