MARION (KWWL) - The Linn-Mar Community Schools Board of Education has announced that Dr. Quintin Shepherd will become the district's new superintendent at the start of the next school year.

Shepherd, who replaces the retiring Dr. Katie Mulholland, begins his contract on July 1, 2015.

Shepherd has been the District 69 Superintendent at Skokie/Morton Grove in Illinois since July 2010. Before Skokie, he was the superintendent at Amboy Community Unit School District, principal at Amboy High School, principal at Amboy Elementary and music teacher at Cambridge Community Unit School District.

Shepherd attended Western Illinois University where he earned his bachelor of arts, master of science and education specialist degrees. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy from Illinois State University.

“Linn-Mar's Board is impressed with Dr. Shepherd's many accomplishments in improving student education, as well as with his boundless energy, exceptional communication skills, and commitment to excellence in learning,” Board President Tim Isenberg said in a written statement. “As Linn-Mar continues to grow and fulfill our mission to inspire learning, unlock potential, and empower achievement, there is no doubt that Dr. Shepherd will lead the district forward to continued success.”
