WATERLOO (KWWL) - For some people in the community, a warm meal is hard to come by. That's where the Salvation Army steps in.

Dozens of volunteers at the Salvation Army in Waterloo prepared turkey, gravy, and all the trimmings for Thanksgiving.

The food served Thursday was mostly donated.

Major Jose Tamayo says if it wasn't for the volunteers, this meal may not happen.

"And so it's very important that we have our volunteers come along side us and partner with us each year to be able to provide the holiday meal for those in need," said Tamayo.

The Salvation Army is in the midst of their red kettle campaign. Major Tamayo says they hope to raise $727,000 this year.
