CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Hundreds of seniors got to an enjoy a Thanksgiving meal delivered to their door.
Stephanie Baker and her daughter wee up early this Thanksgiving making sure older Iowans enjoy this holiday, too.

"It's a great opportunity to help the seniors that are at home and that do not have a family," said Stephanie Baker.

"We're helping seniors," said Stephanie's daughter, Emily.

Around 100 people made, packed, and delivered meals to more than 900 seniors this Thanksgiving -- making sure everyone could get a taste of turkey and all the trimmings.

"I love being able to give stuff to the elderly and I mean, it's Thanksgiving," said Dotti Burke, who has been volunteering on Thanksgiving Day for about 30 years.

Transamerica sponsored the meal. Many volunteers are company employees. It's a long-standing tradition for the employees and their families.

"You're helping other people," said Emily.

They show us that there's more to thanksgiving than food.

It's the 35th year the company has helped provide a holiday meal. For several years the company held a community meal until switching to delivery.
