Weisman set for final game at Kinnick Stadium

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -  On September 15, 2012, Iowa fans were introduced to Mark Weisman.

Moved from fullback to tailback after the injury bug hit the Iowa backfield, the sophomore shredded UNI for 113 yards and 3 touchdowns bursting on the scene seemingly out of nowhere,

"I just wanted to help the team in any way possible,” said Weisman of the move, “I didn't really envision myself being a running back when I was here. I don't think anyone did. Crazy things happen, and I got put in that role, and I've just tried to run with it since."

While he's not the biggest or fastest back, Weisman's made a career out of power and effort, and now sits 8th on Iowa's all time rushing list. He's also just 4 touchdowns away from the most in Hawkeye history

"We really had no idea or appreciation for what he would become his first year on campus,” recalled coach Kirk Ferentz, “He was a great guy, worked hard and took care of business, but there's no way to forecast what was going to go."

"He's been really stable this whole time,” said junior quarterback Jake Rudock. “He's a workhorse, one of those guys that he might be hurting a little bit, but you're never going to see it."

Weisman will look for a win the last time he takes the Kinnick turf on Saturday, but his ultimate goal is to leave a legacy as a guy that left everything on the field.

"Coach Doyle always says the best compliment you can get is that guy finishes,” said Weisman. “That's what you kind of want to be remembered as here."
