FAYETTE (KWWL) - Fayette Mayor Andrew Wenthe confirmed with KWWL that Fayette Police Chief Brad Gardner resigned yesterday.

Fayette City Hall held a special meeting to discuss Gardner Monday.

However, Wenthe said "there was not a lot of discussion" at the meeting.

Wenthe said, in the meantime, "the City of Fayette is working with the Fayette County Sheriff's department to ensure adequate coverage of the city."

The city announced Gardner was on administrative leave last week.

Gardner is also scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 26 for the unlawful passing of a school bus.
