FORECAST: Snow returns Wednesday, trace to 3" possible

Posted: Updated:

Eastern Iowans will see sunny skies and light winds this afternoon with highs in the 20s, but snow is coming tomorrow.

Tonight, clouds return ahead of an approaching Alberta clipper system, which will bring light snow to the area for Wednesday.

The snow will track in after 4 a.m. and continue falling as light snow throughout the day.

The snow will end in the west to east direction around 3 p.m., with most of it out of the area by 9 p.m.

Accumulations look to be light, on the order of a trace to 2 inches, with isolated 3 inches in our extreme western counties.

Winds will be from an east/northeast direction at 10-15 miles per hour, so some areas of blowing snow are possible.

Thanksgiving looks cold and dry, with highs in the 20s.
