Cyclones hold off Alabama 84-74

 Georges Niang scored 28 as Iowa State held off a scare from Alabama 84-74 on Monday night. The win advanced the Cyclones to the title game of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic against Maryland.

After falling behind in the early going the Cyclones stormed back behind strong play from Georges Niang. Niang scored 18 in the first 20 minutes as ISU would lead 43-37 at the half.

The second half would go back and forth as the Crimson Tide would twice grab a 1 point lead. The second one came on a 3-pointer from Ricky Tarrant. Iowa State, however, regained the lead for good two possessions later with a 4 point play from Naz Long.

Long finished with 15 points in the game, while Dustin Hogue came off the bench to add 17 for the Cyclones.
