CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Solid waste crews in Cedar Rapids are reminding residents they will not be collecting trash Thanksgiving Day.

Cedar Rapids Solid Waste and Recycling will be closed for Thanksgiving Day, so garbage, recycling and yard waste collection for Thursday and Friday routes will be delayed by one day.

Their typical Thursday routes will be collected on Friday, Nov. 28, and Friday's routes will be collected on Saturday, Nov. 29.

This week through Wednesday, the Leaf Vacuum Collection Program will be operating.

The program is scheduled to end on Dec. 5, however, if the weather doesn't cooperate, the leaf vacuum crews will provide one more collection to both green and orange routes during the final week.

For more information please visit the garbage and recycling collection calendar on the city's website: http://bit.ly/CollectionCalendar or go to www.CRNewsNow.com to sign up for text and email alerts about garbage and recycling.
