IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Police in Iowa City are looking for six men who they believe robbed two people.

The robberies happened both Saturday and Sunday morning.

The first robbery happened near the corner of Muscatine Avenue and William Street on Iowa City's southeast side, just before six Saturday morning.

The victim says she was walking on the sidewalk when two men came from behind her, forcing an object to her stomach that police believe was a weapon.

The woman says the thieves demanded money and her belongings, she refused and says the pair of robbers then pushed her to the ground, ran off into a nearby cemetery with her things and money.

The woman wasn't hurt, but police say she described the suspects as black males who were both over six feet tall with medium builds. The pair is believed to be in their late 20's to early 30's.

One man as wearing black pants with a black hoody with the hood up and had his face covered with a black scarf.

The other was described as wearing black pants with a grey hoody with the hood up, wearing a thin mustache, and having scars and a hairy mole on the left side of his face.

About a day later and more than a mile away another robbery took place in downtown Iowa city.

"Late at night I saw a lot of read flashing light of police cars, halfway down the block," said Magda Montiel-Davis, who lives downtown.

This one happened at the intersection of Washington and Linn Streets, Sunday morning around 1:30.

The victim says he was on the phone entering his apartment building when four men came up to him, assaulted him, knocked him to the ground, leaving him with cuts and bruises that were treated at the scene.

According to police, the robbers in this one didn't show any weapons, but stole pretty much the same things as Saturday's robbers, money and belongings.

"I'm here all the time, here walking the dogs, I'm here late at night, the kids are out partying, I feel very safe," Montiel-Davis.

The victim described the suspects as black males in their early 20's. He said two of the males were over six feet tall and the other two under six feet tall.

The victim says three of the men had black and red clothing and the other had a grey tank top.

As of Saturday evening the Iowa City Police Department's watch commander would not confirm or deny if these robberies are connected.
