DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The City of Dubuque is seeking applicants to fill a vacant position on its Zoning Advisory Commission.

The selected applicant, when appointed by the City Council, will serve through July 1, 2015, at which time the term expires and reapplication is necessary.

The Zoning Advisory Commission is a seven-member volunteer commission that makes recommendations to the Dubuque City Council on rezoning applications, subdivision plat approval and amendments to Zoning Ordinances.

The commission meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at the Historic Federal Building.

Applications can be printed or submitted online at www.cityofdubuque.org/boards or through the City Clerk's Office.

Applicants must be a resident of the City of Dubuque. The Zoning Advisory Commission is subject to the State of Iowa Gender Balance Law; however, both male and female applicants are encouraged to apply.

Qualified female applicants will be considered first, but if no eligible females apply, a male candidate may be selected.
