CARROLL (KWWL) -

On Thursday, Regent Nicole Carroll announced her resignation from the Board of Regents.

Carroll says her family recently moved from Carroll to another state.

In a written statement she said, "Given my family's recent move out of state, I wish to make this announcement ahead of the next Board meeting. I want to thank everyone for the wonderful opportunity to serve on the Board of Regents. This is a highly dedicated Board and all of its members work tirelessly for Iowa and its public universities."

The Board of Regents governs the state's three public universities: the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the University of Northern Iowa. It also governs the Iowa School for the Deaf and the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School.
