DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Three Iowa men are being held in the Dubuque County Jail after authorities say a resident spotted two of them break into a home.

Brandon Strub, 19, faces charges of third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Benjamin Sheldon, 18, and Cody Gaulke, 19, both face charges of third-degree burglary.

On Thursday, Nov. 20, at 6:55 a.m., the Dubuque County Sheriff's Office assisted the Asbury Police Department with a reported burglary in process at 2448 Maplewood Dr.

Daniel Westemeier said two of the men walked into his home, saw him and left.

"I heard my front door open and I got up and I looked and there were two guys in my house. I got up and asked them what the heck they were doing in my house," said Westemeier.

Westemeier said the men told him that they were in the wrong house and quickly left. He said he then saw the two men walk over to his neighbors house.

"All the sudden I heard a bang and I look out my window and looked and one guy was kicking the door in on my neighbors house," said Westemeier.

Westemeier said he immediately woke up his wife and told her to call the police. He said he went over to his neighbors house to investigate.

"I went over there and there was a guy sitting in a car and I asked him what was going on. He told me he was waiting for his aunt to come home. I said well, where

are the other two guys and he said he was alone. I told him I don't think you are and I walked in front of his car and I said I'm going to get your license plate number and your not leaving," said Westemeier.

The Asbury Police and the Dubuque County Sheriff's Department were able to find the three men and arrest them.
