Hudson boy to be Hawkeyes Kid Captain

HUDSON (KWWL) - A Hudson boy will be Kid Captain for the Hawkeyes game against Wisconsin on Nov. 22.

8-year-old Rylan Mohr was born with a rare skin disease called epidermolysis bullosa, which makes his skin fragile, and prone to blister when touched.

“When Rylan was born, they went to clean him and his skin wiped right off his hands and feet,' his mother Ann Mohr said.

He's been treated throughout his life at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. As an infant, he spent three months at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit fighting off serious infections.

Rylan still requires care twice a day, but loves sports and participates when he can as a scorekeeper or referee.

“Rylan's attitude toward EB blows me away,” his mother said. “He really doesn't care that he has this skin condition. He knows how to protect himself, but he's also going to enjoy life every single day.”

This is the sixth year of the Kid Captain program. Read more about Rylan
