JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

The mountain bike trails at the Sugar Bottom Recreation Area will be closing on Dec. 1 for hunting season.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Coralville Lake say the trails will be closed for the entire month of December, which coincides with hunting that is allowed in the area. They say the closure, which pertains to all hikers and cyclists, is done to increase safety and reduce conflicts.

People using other areas around Coralville Lake during hunting season are asked to take precautionary measures, such as wearing "blaze orange" clothing.

For more information, contact the Coralville Lake Project office at 319-338-3543 ext. 6300.
