WESTGATE (KWWL) - Police investigating a routine car crash involving a deer came ended up making a drug arrest.

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 6:40 p.m., a car ran into a deer near the intersection of C-33 and S Avenue in Westgate. 

When the Fayette County Sheriff's Office responded, deputies found Aaron Michael Swearingen was the driver of the 2002 Ford Taurus that a deer ran into.

Swearingen, 17, of Westgate was westbound on C-33/100th St. when a deer ran into the roadway, striking his vehicle.

Drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle during the accident investigation.

Swearingen was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Damage to the 2002 Ford Taurus was minimal and estimated at $1,000.
