WASHBURN (KWWL) -

Fire crews were called to the corner of La Porte Road and Cedar Street in Washburn because a business was on fire.

The fire happened between 1-2 a.m. at Anemone's Clowns and Coral.

No one was injured in the fire, but heavy smoke forced people out of bed and into the streets.

Fire crews were worried about smoke and flames that could spread to nearby homes, so they told people in those four houses to leave in the middle of the night.

Rachel Storm, along her three year old and six year old children, received an early wake up call from a fire fighter.

Storm lives right next door to the business.

She says a fire fighter came by and knocked on their door, the next thing they knew their home was filled with smoke.

Fire crews say the Red Cross wasn't needed in this situation because all the families had other places to stay.

Storm says the situation was terrifying, but she is thankful the fire fighters were there to alert them.

"The fire fighters were wonderful, all I want to say it thank you so much. They were so wonderful to my children. They gave them stuffed animals. They helped them out of the house and thankfully nothing happened to our house, but I feel terrible about what happened here," said Storm.
