University of Iowa winter weather policy for canceling class

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - With the return of cold weather and snow, the University of Iowa wants to remind students and employees of its winter weather policy.

According to a news release, the university will hold class as long as its safe to travel to and from classrooms.

If classes are canceled, the university will send out a Hawk Alert. It will also post notices on several pages on the university's website and on its social media pages.

The university recommends students update their Hawk Alert contact information herehttp://hawkalert.uiowa.edu/

The university also recommends taking buses during winter.

The Parking and Transportation Department offers jump start services for students, employees, and visitors most days. To contact them, call 319-335-8312.
