UPDATE: Police release name of man killed in crash

East Dubuque Police have released the name of the man killed in a head-on collision this morning on the Julien Dubuque Bridge.

Gavin Gremmel, 18, died when the car he was in crashed head-on into a semi-tractor trailer. Gremmel is a graduate of Dubuque Hempstead High School.

Police say Cody Berry, 19, was driving the car. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, they said.

Neil Erb was driving the semi, and he was taken to Unity Finley Hospital in Dubuque.

Police are still investigating the crash.



The Julien Dubuque Bridge connecting Dubuque with East Dubuque, Ill., has reopened as of 11 a.m. Monday after a fatal crash shut it down for several hours, according to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office.



The Jo Daviess County Coroner confirmed one person is dead following a Monday morning crash on the Julien Dubuque Bridge.

The coroner said one other person in the car was taken to a hospital.



An early-morning crash has closed the Julien Dubuque Bridge.That crash involved a semi and a car. It happened around 2 a.m.

Traffic has been re-routed because of the crash.

East Dubuque Police say they are reconstructing the scene right now, and don't know when the bridge will be reopen.
