Classes at Southeast Polk schools are canceled today after at least two drive-by shootings in Pleasant Hill early Monday morning.

Police say a suspect is in custody.

The incident comes after a threat was made on the social media app Yik Yak on Friday.  A greater police presence was planned for Monday at Southeast Polk High School for the shootings.

Southeast Polk Community Schools posted this cancellation notice on its website:

Southeast Polk has announced that school is canceled for Monday, November 17. This decision follows a threat of violence at the high school, which was made on social media website Yik Yak. Pleasant Hill police rated the threat assessment as low, and planned to take appropriate measures to keep SEP students and staff safe by providing an increased police presence on the secondary campus on Monday. In the city of Pleasant Hill on Monday morning, two shooting incidents occurred. Pleasant Hill police are needed in those situations and therefore are not available at the secondary campus. In the interest of all students' safety, SEP has canceled school.
