DockDogs jump into Dubuque

DUBUQUE (KWWL) - Dogs soared to new heights this weekend in Dubuque during the 2014 DockDogs World Championship.

The DockDogs World Championship is a canine aquatic competition, where dogs participate in different competitions like long jump and high jump.

The competition is open to all dogs both big and small, even if they have no professional training. Dogs are required to be at least six months old to participate.

Gary Foot brought his dog Zoey from Virginia to participate in this year's competition.

"We started in May and she just took to it. It's her rookie year," said Foot.

This year more than 400 dogs competed in the competition, which Dubuque has played host to for several years.
