Black Hawks make early season move for defenseman

WATERLOO (KWWL) - The Waterloo Black Hawks completed a deal Thursday to acquire 19-year-old defenseman Ruslan Rakhmatov from the Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League.

Rakhmatov a 6-foot, 190-pound native of Brooklyn, New York, led the Bulls' defense in scoring with one goal and 10 assists in 13 games.

Last season, Rakhmatov played in 40 games for the Des Moines Buccaneers, producing three goals and six assists.

Current Black Hawks Marcel Godbout and Brendan Shane were his teammates in Des Moines.

The Buccaneers selected Rakhmatov in the 25th round of the 2013 USHL Entry Draft, Phase II. He spent a portion of the 2012-13 season skating for the Jersey Hitmen of the EJHL.
