STATE VOLLEYBALL: Morgan returns, Dike-NH wins first round

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Volleyball programs in Class 2A taking the floor for the first time Wednesday at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids -- including three-time defending state championship Dike-New Hartford.

The Wolverines faced West Branch, and the underdog Bears were ready.

West Branch jumps to an 11-5 lead in the first set, but Dike-New Hartford dug deep on their bench, and into the match comes star middle blocker Brooke Morgan, who hasn't played since fracturing her foot back in early September.

The Wisconsin Badger recruit made an immediate impact with a kill. Brooke Morgan was a dominant force in the middle as the Wolverines take the first two sets.

And on match point, Dike-New Hartford's Rachel Koop puts away the winner. The Wolverines get the sweep move to the semifinals but of course the story of match is the return of Brooke Morgan.

Dike-New Hartford plays Unity Christian at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
